Grant money is available to start or expand a summer food program.
The federal Summer Food Service Program reimburses sponsors for providing healthy food to eligible children, maintaining access to nutritious meals through the school break. The Oregon Department of Education would like to expand participation among schools, tribes and community organizations.
ODE is offering state grant funds up to $20,000 per sponsor for new or growing programs. Apply on the ODE website. The deadline is March 1.
