Performance-pay expert to speak at labor conference

Ready! Set! GO!
Friday, Sept. 26, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
Saturday, Sept. 27, 8-11:30 a.m.

Start now, be prepared.

This year, OSBA's Labor and Employment Conference draws on the wide-ranging expertise of OSBA staff and guest speakers to give you the latest and best labor and employment information.

Topics and issues include:

Performance pay: A panel led by Chalkboard Project's Kate Dickson discusses the CLASS Project, a foray into teacher pay tied to performance, featuring representatives from school districts taking part in CLASS. What are the performance-pay options for your district?

Communications: Randall-Dixon Public Relations experts will tell you how to communicate at every stage of bargaining - from good times to times of crises.

OEBB: Oregon Educators Benefit Board Deputy Administrator Denise Hall and OEBB board members will share the new statewide insurance program's current status and plan for the future.

Ethics: Ethics Commission's Ron Bersin and Oregon Law Commission's Wendy Johnson will explain ethics law changes and how the changes affect educators.

Legislative update: Tricia Yates, your lead OSBA lobbyist, will brief you about preparations for the next legislative session, your role as an advocate, and why we need to stay alert and engaged.

Bargaining styles: OSBA's Greg Sampson-Gruener shares new data on teacher perceptions about performance pay and bargaining styles.

Child abuse: Recognizing "grooming behaviors" of sexual predators is the important goal of OSBA's Peggy Holstedt and Rebekah Cook's session.
