New Oregon School Board Members of Color Caucus debuts

This is an image of SBMCC-rotatorLocal board members from around Oregon, with support from OSBA and its Board of Directors, have established a new Oregon School Board Members of Color Caucus.
The caucus, headed by President Carlos Castaneda (Gladstone School Board), has a number of objectives, including:
  • Promoting a high-quality education for all students, focusing on the needs of students of color;
  • Promoting positive relationships between school board members of color, their communities, political leaders and OSBA;
  • Encouraging individuals of color to run for school boards.

Also a workshop about the caucus is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, during OSBA’s 70th Annual Convention in Portland. Convention registration materials can be found here.
