OSBA creates new resource for federal advocacy
July 20, 2016
With the signing of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) into law, it is more important than ever for locally elected school board members, public education advocates, parents and community members to be informed about the debates and discussions around K-12 education policy at the national level.
In order to help our members stay up to date, OSBA legislative staff will provide regular updates about these important issues on a new “Federal Advocacy Resources” page on our website. You can also find the link under the “Legislative Action Network” section on the bottom right of our homepage (www.osba.org).
For the launch of this important resource, you will find:
- Links to the latest News Announcements about federal or national education issues
- A link to a page dedicated to providing the latest information about the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) from OSBA, the Oregon Department of Education, the National School Boards Association and the U.S. Department of Education
- Links to other national resources information of interest to help provide insights and context on federal education policy
The goal of this new resource is to help local board members become more empowered to weigh in on federal issues that will impact districts and schools here in Oregon.
