Feds approve Oregon flexibility waiver under ESEA

The Oregon Education Department (ODE) announced July 23 that federal authorities have approved a three-year flexibility waiver under what was formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act.

The practical effect of the action is that Oregon schools won’t face the immediate possibility of further requirements or potentially sanctions under the act, now known as the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). The waiver was granted without conditions through 2017-18.

The state’s executive summary of the waiver can be found here.
