 William H. Parrett

William H. Parrett is the Director of the Center for School Improvement & Policy Studies
and a professor of education at Boise State University. He has received international
recognition for his work in school improvement related to children and adolescents who
live in poverty. His professional experiences include public school teaching and
principalships, curriculum design and media production, college leadership, teaching,
research, and publication.

Throughout his career, Bill has worked to improve the educational achievement of all children and youth, particularly
those less advantaged. Toward this goal, his efforts have resulted in the creation of numerous policies, programs, and
interventions designed to help educators, schools, communities, and universities benefit from research and best practice.
These efforts have positively impacted the lives of thousands of young people, many who live in poverty.

Heidi Sipe, Umatilla School District superintendent since 2007, was named the 2016 Oregon Superintendent of the Year by the Oregon Association of School Executives (OASE) and the Confederation of Oregon School Administrators (COSA). She is passionate about student success and deeply committed to her community. What sets Heidi apart is her keen ability to think strategically, guided by her integrity. She is a collaborative leader, known throughout Oregon for being a good listener and a bold educator.

In her luncheon message, Heidi will discuss the crucial role school boards hold in developing vision and providing the necessary support to ensure goals become reality. This message will explore barriers and solutions for overcoming the adult obstacles that often hinder student success. Plan on learning during this session and leaving ready to collaborate for the benefit of students.
