You are invited! – 17 meetings across the state
The Oregon School Boards Association invites you to its popular series of fall regional meetings. These evening meetings are your opportunity to talk face-to-face with OSBA staff about the 2011 legislative session and effective legislative advocacy. OSBA staff will answer your questions and offer you tools to help you in your role as a school leader.
Preview the 2011 legislative session
Learn more about the state budget for education and what the federal education jobs law means for Oregon. We will also talk about the key policy issues up for debate this session.
Discuss OSBA’s proposed Legislative Policies & Priorities
Last May, OSBA’s Legislative Policy Committee proposed a list of priorities and policies to guide the association’s legislative work. Your regional LPC representative will be on hand to tell you more.
Member boards will be voting later this fall, and if approved, these policies and priorities will comprise OSBA’s legislative agenda for the 2011 session.
Meet your regional candidates for the OSBA board
Ten positions for the OSBA board are open for nominations this fall. (Nominations close October 1.) Candidates will have an opportunity to make presentations at regional meetings. Voting is November 15 to December 15. New board members serve January 1, 2011, to December 31, 2012.
Become a stronger advocate for your schools
The relationships you build with legislators now will help you influence future state decisions. Come to OSBA’s fall regional meetings to build your skills as a public school advocate and prepare for the coming legislative session.

This year, OSBA is offering a bonus – an optional pre-meeting workshop. Your ESD will determine if there is enough interest to schedule this free, one-hour session and choose one of these three topics:
• Collective bargaining hot topics
• Policy and legal issues
• Public meetings and executive sessions

All meetings are in the evening and dinner or dessert is served. Have your superintendent notify your ESD for reservations.
